What to do if suppliers don’t send CBAM information?

  1. Cooperation and Guidance: Establishing good cooperation with third-country producers is vital. The Commission provides guidance and templates to assist producers in determining embedded emissions.
  2. Responsibility of Reporting Declarant: Ultimately, the reporting declarant bears responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of CBAM reports. They are liable for ensuring compliance with CBAM reporting obligations and may face penalties for non-compliance.
  3. Default Values: During part of the transitional period (until mid-2024), reporting declarants may rely on default values provided by the Commission. These values are further explained in the question, “What are the default values? How does this work?”

Dubrink’s CBAM compliance software supports reporting declarants by facilitating accurate reporting and adherence to CBAM guidelines, including the use of default values when necessary. We see that once suppliers see how easy it is to file CBAM information via the Dubrink platform and send the data to multiple clients, they are usually willing to cooperate.
