What is a production route?

A “production route” refers to a specific technology used in a production process to produce goods under an aggregated goods category. Each production process typically relates to one group of CBAM goods produced (the “aggregated goods categories”), although in some cases, more than one production route exists for making these goods. Few aggregated goods categories have more than one production route, like Unwrought aluminum. Unwrought aluminum can be a Primary smelting but also a secondary production.
